THE PETROL SHORTAGE.
REGULATIONS PUT INTO FORCE. Auckland, Jan. 12. Information has been received in Auckland that the* Prime Minis-: or,as Minister in charge of trie..Po':iv Regulations, gazetted iu Jmy, 1--. wo. has directed that these regulations which were temporarily suspeuaec.are now to be .strictly enforced. Paring the presold, shortage the whole of (he benzine imported must be distributed in accordance with the te gulations in regard |)oth to quantity and price,, and in every eaie preference must be given to essential industries. The enforcement of the regulations also means that all dealers in benzine, whether as importers or distributors, must be holders of licenses. No importer of benzine, according to the regulations, may -allow, a distributor to take more than four weeks' supply at one time, and no distributor is permitted to sell more than four weeks’ supply at any one time to a consumer.
