ROYAL PICTURES.
Dainty Madge Kennedy, in “Our Little Wife,’l to be screened at the Royal to-night, shows something of the form that made her famous overnight. She is now recognised as America’s foremost comedienne, and created such.parts ns the principal roles in “Baby Mine,” and “Nearly Married,” on the legitimate stage. The sfhry is rich in amusing situations, being the adventures of a young wife who insists through kindness of heart in ttibingUier three rejected suitors with her on her honeymoon. The three suitors are a doctor, a poet and a fat man about, iOAvn, and the variety of the characters is alone sufficient to suggest some of the ludicrous situations that arise. Laughter and thrills follow one after the other in (he. picture, and the production is n guarantee of a good two hours’ entertainment. How truly characteristic of bush life when lived “Tar from the maddening crowd” is the comedy of. “The Hayseeds,” the remarkably faithful and humorous photo-play of life on a wayback selection, to be screened at the Royal Theatre on Monday and Tuesday next. Nothing is omitted, and while the audience are being let into' the many causes for jealouy and malice that spring up between the Hayseeds and the Duncans, there is always a delightful romance interwoven. Everything is of the bush bushy. Whether it he men, women, children,. or babies, weddings, christenings, dances, quarrels, or happy reunions, all is redolent of the bush. Dad and Mum and all the family iirrive from the Avayhacks, and arc going to have the time of their lives. Dad thinks they ought to stop at the best hotel, hut Mum thinks Dad is trying to put on airs, and won’t hear of it. Joe and Pansy won't let on where (hey arc going to stop, but Joe always was economical. On Wednesday: Don’t miss “Tarrum of the Apes.”
