FOXTON RACECOURSE TRUSTEES.

Very few <>C 1 lie local public are aware of the tact that the area (a land upon which the racecourse is .situated belongs to them, and is vested in trustees, who have the power to elect their successors. -A statutory public media"', convened by the Trustees, is held annually, but (he public do not put in fin appearance. The annua! meeting was held in the Racing Club s otfice on Saturday last, when there was u small attendance. Mr Kebbell, Chairman of Trustees, presented the following report, which was adopted :

‘‘The Trustees have the honour to report that since the lasi public meeting, when I hey reported that a lease had been given to the Racing Club for fourteen years, it has been found desirable to cancel it in consequence of a very generous gift from the Club to the Trustees of six acres on the northern Imundarv of the race course. The trustees visited the (-mirse on Saturday, and are very pleased with the work that lias been done, namely, moving back and enlarging both the grandstand and Inc (otalisalor house,■ thus giving Pie public more room in front of those buildings. A new entrance to the hack of those buildings has also been inade, and a now fence erected on the new boundary. The whole race course and appointments are in good order and much improved, including the lawn, on which a good deal of soiling has been done. The balance of credit at the P.O. Savings Hank is £2B 13s id. ihcie .ue liabilities outstanding of £1 15s od, and the legal-expenses of the exchange and purchase of land with and from the Borough Council.”
