CORRESPONDENCE.
(To the Editor.) Sir. —I noticed in a report of the last Council meeting that a Councillor said that better sermons could be got from pictures than were sometimes preached in churches, and he did not except local churches. It is regrettable, Sir, that so few people do attend church for public worship, and those who do not put in an appearance are possibly out of touch with the true spirit of worship,. In America, 1 am informed that suitable pictures are screened in some churches in order to awaken the spiritually moribund. The time may come when the churches will have to adopt new methods in order to reach the masses. 1 must say, however, that I have listened with a great deal of interest, and have derived much personal comfort, from that portion of Divine worship called the sermon in local places of worship. Perhaps lam behind the times, but 1 am quite content with the old method of worship.—l am, etc., A SINNER.
