ROYAL PICTURES.
Those who attended the Royal la-d iii*»ht sju’iik very highly of Hie programme screened. The star film is smuel king oul of Ihe ordinary, and those who did net see it last’ night should make a point id' hem# present to-night, when tin; programme is to lie repeated. To-morrow and Thursday night “Under Suspicion,” adapted from Hugh Weirs story, “The Woohvortli Diamonds.’’ a erook-mnvspaper-so-eiety drama, is tin; eldef attraetion. Both Francis Bushumii and Miss Bayne are happily east, and the production is on a most lavish scale. Gerry Simpson, a millionaire, usually has things Ids own way, hut Virginia Blake has ideas of her own. She earns her living as a reporter, and considers that everybody should have some object in life —should he an earner, not a drone. Gerry pretends lie is poor, and the millionaire goes to work, lie gets badly tangled up in a jewel robbery, and is suspected to lie the guilty party. Even when Virginia proves him innocent she cannot forgive him for being rich —hut she gets over that. The supporting films on this programme arc excellent. As well as a good number of theHVeeldVßeview, there is a particularly interesting Ditmar animal study, “War Times at the Zoo,’’ and the Christie comedy, “Betty's 'Big Adventure,'’ with faseinating Betty Compson in the lead. The story centres about the plight of a young girl whoso craving for adventure leads her to impersonate a countess who is supposed to he kidnapped. In the cabaret she is eon fronted by the count, who tries lo detain her, but she is rescued by a young man, who falls in love with her and marries her. There will also be shown the third instalment of thS; great serial, “The Railroad Raiders,”
