ROYAL PICTURES.

The programme screened at the Royal last night will be repeated to-night. The ice-skating scene in the star film, “The Frozen Warning,” is alone worth the price of admission. To-morrow night a Triangle feature, starring William Desmond and Gloria Swanson, “Society for Sale,” will be the chief attraction. In this good, bright, and Avholesome entertainment is guaranteed. The story is out of the ordinary, and has plenty of acting and no padding, William Desmond as the Honourable Billy, and Gloria SAvanson as the little .shopgirl Avho suddenly attains wealth, are both exceedingly happy in their portrayal, and the supporting east is of unusual strength. Desmond is seen in a character different to any he has previously essayed, that of a scion of the nobility, bankrupt of course, and his charming personality shines through a performance that is particularly entertaining and attractive. The picture is Avell presented, and contains many scenes of splendour. On Saturday night, Maurice Tourneur’s Avonderful production, “Woman,” a seven-part story of avoman’s Influence in past and present days, will he screened. It is a fitting successor to “Intolerance,” Avhich it rivals in massed effects and artistry. The story is told in a prologue, epilogue, and live episodes, each dealing Avith a separate period. Woman is represented by six different stars,-Florence Billings being the star of stars, and the supports Ethel Hallor as Eve, Flora Revallios as Messalirm, Diana Allen as Heloise, Gloria Goodwin as Gyrene, and Fa ire Binney as a girl of the Civil War period. Commencing this Aveek a special matinee will be held every (Saturday for children, starling at 2.J0 o’clock. This week a Charlie Chaplin feature Ims been obtained for the matinee.
