A BABY DROWNED.

Carterton, Yesterday. A sad drowning fatality happened at Clareville yesterday. The 16monlhs’ baby girl of Mr- and Airs W. H, Thomas was missing at noon, and was discovered at night sucked into a water-race crossing the road. The child was accompanied by a four-year-old sister, and was playing in the road, when she fell through a hole in the race covering. At the inquest before the District Coroner to-day a verdict of accidental death was returned.
