CHEMICAL FIRE ENGINE.
At the last meeting of the Chamber of Commerce, it was suggested that a chemical engine should be procured for fire 'prevention purposes. We have received particulars re chemical, engine from Mr -I. A. Smyth, of Wellington, who says: “I have a chemical engine for sale, similar to the one in use in Otaki. It is fitted with two cylinders (copper) holding forty gallons each. It has a pressure of 2001bs. This engine is mounted on two wheels, with shafts and a driver’s seat, with reel hose, also a largo box for holding re-charges and tools. This machine can be shifted from place to place with man power, horse power, or motor power. It is really adapted and designed for a town like your own. Why two cylinders"? You can use one at a time, or the two together’, which makes the machine
very effective. When one is used lip while the other is turned on, you can re-charge it, and keep a continuous How going, from one cylinder to the other, charging each one as they give out until the (ire is extinguished. I may say here without contradiction that this i*one of the finest machines in the Dominion to-day, the most up-to-date and effective. Mr Hugo, Government Superintendent for Fire Brigades, and Superintendent Tait, of onr local Fire Brigade, will bear me out in the above. Price, £l5O, f.o.b. Wellington. This machine is cheap at £200,” * '
We pass the information on to the Chamber of Comiporce ami Borough Council.
