THE FLOWER SHOW.
The local Horticultural Society's Spring Show was opened this afternoon by the Mayor (Mr John C!n\stail).' The number of entries received is a little above that of last year, and the quality of the exhibits is quite up to the usual standard. The Show .will be open again tonight from 7 o’clock, and to-morrow night. This evening the Borough Band will play selections outside the Hall, and Mr H. Osborne’s orchestra Avill also give several selections in the Hall. There will be the usual competitions. The Citizens’ Trophy this year has again been won by Mr W. G, Bond,°of Palmerston North. There were six entries. This is the second consecutive year that Mr Bond has won this competition. Mr Bond hus also won Mr Shailer’s Trophy. Bast year Mrs MeMurray was sue- .. : ■
