FOXTON RIFLE CLUB.
The annual general mooting of members of the Foxton Rifle Club was held on Thursday evening, Rev. W. Rnine (vice-president) presiding.
The annual report staled inter alia: Your committee wish to congratulate Ihe-Chili upon a successful year financially, and considering the fact that through most of the season the Avar was going on. and our members were being steadily token away to it, and our active memheiMiip monthly being reduced, we art; pleased to report with all I hose draAvhacks the Club has been kept alive. The season opened in October, and .praclically a shoot Avas hold every Saturday afternoon until its dose in May. 11 is to he regretted that although' avc have a membership of forty (hat we cannot get more than eight to ten at our weekly practices. No doubt shortage of rides is partly responsible. The Defence Department has been communicated with on this matter, and they hope to be able to supply some at an early date. During the season a match Avas bred with the Linton Club, the contest being very close, the scores being, Linton 476, Foxton 46!). We regret to have to record that one of our keenest helpers and staunch members, in the person of Mr G. D. May, passed aAvay during the year. Trophies to the value of £7 4s Od were kindly presented by various members and local toAvnspeople, to Avhom-the Club tenders its thanks, also to the Borough Council 'for their grant of £lO for material. The thanks of the Club are also due to-Sergeanl-Major Hosp, who, besides taking a keen interest in Ride Clubs, has, through the Defence Department, put in for a grant of £3O odd to do up the local targets, and he has dime his best to help us in other ways. The Club also Avishes to thank Messrs Walsh, Hamer and Barnard for work done on targets and erecting telephone svstem.
The balance-sheet showed I bat the receipts, including balance brought: forward from Hie previous year, £5 18s lid, totalled £3O 15s lid, and the expenditure £2O Ids Od, leaving a credit balance of £l3 Os lid.
The report and balance-sheet was adopted.
The following officers wore elected for the ensuing year: —Patron, Mr F. Robinson; president, Mr C. 11. Symons; vice-presidents, Messrs Rev. \V. Paine, C. Rand, 11. Hamer and J. Hartley; secretary and treasurer, Mr H; Claris: committee, Messrs AT.. Symons, Cronquest, R. Rand, and Franldand; assistant secretary, Air H, Frankland; auditor, Mr A, -J. Kellow; selection committee, Messrs H, McKegney, Claris and C. Symons; handicappers, Messrs Cronquest and J. Hartley, It was decided to opeu’thc season on Saturday, September 27th. The following new members were elected: —Messrs S. Head and J. N. Rider.
At the conclusion of the business the President presented trophies won during the year to the following:—Messrs AA r . Symons, C. Rand, R. Rand, C. Cronquest, A. Barnard, H. Claris, "AT. O’Brien and J. Hartley.
