FOXTON RACING CLUB.

ANNUAL REPORT. The following is the annual report to be submitted at The annual general meeting to' be held in the Council Chambers to-nigftt, at 8 o’clock: — The Committee have again the pleasure of presenting the annual statement of accounts for the year ending July 31st, 1919, for consideration of members, and in so doing have much pleasure in recording a very successful year. The stakes given by the Club were £1,625, an increase of £350 on last year’s figures. The year commenced with a credit balance of £SBB 9s sd, and closed with a credit of £262 15s Bd, which, in view of the fact that improvements amounting to £429 3s 3d have been carried out, is entirely satisfactory. Improvements have been carried out by the removal to the land purchased from the Borough Council of the totalisator house, an additional 30ft. being added thereto in order to provide for the increased attendance which has taken place latterly. The outside publican’s and refreshment booths have also been moved further back, which will allow for much needed additional space for the lawn and outside patrons. The Grandstand will also have been moved further back before the next race meeting. The straight of the course proper has been ploughed up and sown down. It was found necessary to do this, owing to the turf being in poor condition. There has been a good take of the grasses sown, and by the time January rolls round the course promises to be in first-class condition for racing on. The course, grounds, and tracks are in excellent order,' and reflect credit on the caretaker. The Committee- have to thank all officials for their efforts in bringing the Club still further ahead in its position. Nominations for the various offices have been received as follows: —President, Mr J. R, Whyte; vice-presidents, Messrs W. E. Barber, C. Robinson, 0. Robinson, F. S. Easton; auditor, Mr .Fred. Symes; treasurer, Mr F. S. Easton; stewards, Messrs J. V. Burr, R. Bryant, G. Coley, H. Coley, L. R. Freeman, H. G. Hammond, Hr. C. L. Maudl, W. Jewell, and 11. S. Tbynne. As the nominations do not exceed the vacancies, an election will not be necessary.”
