SEVEN Ministries have in succession conducted the government of New Zealand during the past 28 years. Following are particulars of (he dates mi which the various Governments assumed ollice, and of the periods they were in ollice: — Ballance, assumed ollice January 24th, 1891, term 2 years; Seddon, Hay 24th, 1893, 13 years; HallJones, June 21st, 1900, 4(1 days; Ward, August Gth, 190 G, G 2-3 years; Mackenzie, March 28th, 1912, 104 days; Massey, July 10th, 1912, 3 years; National, August 12th, 1915, 4 years.’ The late Mr Seddon became Prime Minister, owing to the death of Mr Ballance, on April 27th, 1893. On Mr Seddon’s death on June 10th, 1900, a Ministry was former by Mr (now Sir) William Hall-Jones, the latter resigning on the return of Sir Jos--eph Ward from England. Following the general election of 1911, Parliament assembled on February 15th, 1912, and a motion of no-eqjifidence against Sir Joseph Ward’s Government was defeated on the castingvote of the Speaker. • Towards the end of March, Sir Joseph Ward resigned, and a Ministry was formed by Mr (now Sir) Thomas Mackenzie. It was defeated in the House on July Gth, 1912,.having then been in office 100 days. Air Massey’s first Ministry entered ollice four days later.
