RED SHIELD CLUB.

(To the Editor.) Sir. —I am informed that the lied Shield Club Committee require ahout £IOO to-complete the furnishing of the rooms. I notice in Tuesday’s “Herald” that the ladies. intend to give a series of afternoons at the Club for this object. May I suggest to the ladies that a more expeditious method of raising the inoney would be for, say, ten ladies to divide the borough and district up, ;fnd each one canvass the residents. I think if this system were adopted the £IOO could be raised in a few days, and the ladies would be saved much time. Some one may say that a canvass has already been made, but who can withstand the persuasive eloquence of the fair sex for such a deserving object? And, Sir, is t no((he Club a deserving object? It provides healthy and harmless recreation for our youths during the evenings, and parents have the satisfaction of knowing that their hoys are kept from the temptations of the street, and every hoy, no matter of what denomination, is welcome, so that the Club appeals to all. T do not wish to disparage the ladies in their.efforts, hut in rny-opinion voluntary donations will he the shortest method of raising-the funds required. Thanking you in anticipation.— Yours, etc., INTERESTED.
