MAORI WOMAN -KILLED. HER HUSBAND SERIOUSLY WOUNDED. Auckland, Aug. 15. Meagre details of a tragedy which occurred at Oramahoe, near Ohacwai, worm received by telegram by the Superintendent of Police tonight. The telegram staled that the victims were two old Maori people, a woman, Meareana Takemoana, being shot dead and her husband, Komaera Haratua, receiving one bullet in the breast and (wo in (he left arm.

The old man, who has been removed to the hospital, slated that at dusk on Thursday evening the barking of his dogs caused him to run outside, but a strange Maori who was coming down the hill towards the hut instantly shot at him and wounded him. The woman then came out of the hut, and was shot dead.
