SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
The ordinary meeting of the local State School Committee wds held in the Council Chamber last night. Correspondence was read from Mr G. H. Bennett and A. D. Willis, Ltd., re supply of books for school library. It was decided to hold over the purchase of books until the library scheme now being formulated by the Board was available. The head teacher’s report was read and adopted. It was decided to askithe Borough Council to forego the sanitary charges this year. Mr Kellow said he had communicated with the General Manager of Railways re facilitating the carriage of material for the school building, but so far had not received a reply. It. was resolved that'extra labour be obtained for cleaning the Gospel Hall. It was reported that All Saints’ Sabbath school had had a narrow escape from destruction by fire on account of an overheated flue firing the wall. Votes of thanks were accorded the head teacher and staff for their efforts during the Peace celebrations. Messrs Claris and Hornblow were appointed visitors for the month, and other formal business was discussed and the meeting rose. V
