MYSTERIOUS AFFAIR.

LITTLE GIRL DIES FROM GUNSHOT WOUND, Christchurch, July 30, Eleanor Coventry, a girl of eleven yea:rs, who had been temporarily left alone in her parents' house at Sydenham, was found by a neighbour suffering from a gunshot wound in the abdomen this afternoon. She died shortly after admission to the hospital. At the inquest evidence was tendered that a gun in the house was not used for ten months, and was unloaded. Cartridges were kept apart from the gun on a shelf in the cupboard. The inquest was adjourned, till to-morrow for medical and other evidence.
