COTTON SUPPLIES.
The long-continued quest for a new cotton-growing country has received some stimulus from the results obtained in Mesopotamia. Experimental sowings have yielded excellent results, though probably the plant received careful attention, and at one period irrigation would be necessary. Then it is a question* whether the Arab would prove himself a good cultivator. Because a great source of supply is needed, possibly the problem might be solved by importing labour from India.
