Christchurch, Yosterdny.. The body of the man which was discovered by a lad in the Ashley River and subsequently disappeared, being carried aAvay- by the flood, was recovered by the police, and recognised as that of Walter Allen, aged forty-two, a returned soldier of Rangiora. He had been missing since Sunday. He had been suffering from the effects of a wound, shell, shock, and insomnia.. At the inquest a verdict of found drowned was returned, there being no evidence to show how he came by his death.
