HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.

A meeting of the Committee of the local Horticultural Society was held last night, the president (Mr W. E, Barber) presiding. It was decided to hold the Spring Show on September 11th and 12th, and last year’s schedule, with a few minor alterations, was adopted. The following stewards were appointed; — Classes A and B, Miss Signal; C, Miss Speirs; D, Mrs McMurray; E, Mrs C. IT. Symons; F and G, Mr D. Whibley; IT, Mrs Renton and Miss 0. Nye; I, J, and K, Mrs Harding and Miss A. Key Ion; doorkeepers, Messrs Henderson, Harding, Galland and Whibley.

It was decided to ask the following to officiate as judges: —Fruit and vegetables, Mr W. G. Bond, Palmerston North; pot plants and cut blooms, Mr Sliailcr, Palmerston N,; cookery, Mr Whitehead, Palmerston N., or Mr J. A. Roach, Shannon.

Miss A. Neylon and Mr J. Vie Col I were elected to the vacancies on the Committee caused through the removal from the district of Miss N. Nevlon and Air R. Ashmore.

The arrangements for the tearooms and sweets stall were left to the president and secretary.

Tiie secretary was instructed to write to Mr R. Ashmore, conveying the Society’s (hanks for services rendered. November 28th and 29th were fixed for the dates for the Summer Show.

Several accounts were passed for payment, and the meeting terminated.
