Der Kaiser says dot’s very gool; miene poys, we’re doing grand; der nusage he vill vin for sure, start oop der Sherman band. But, all at vonee, der comes a change, no more ve smile mil joy; ve hear dose rag-time var songs of dot British soldier poy. “You made me love you,” virst he sing; but do he kiss us? No! He charge us mit his bayonet, and, he make us go. He sing, “A long, long way it vas to Tipperary grand,” but do ho go there? No! He make straight vor der Faderland. Ve liaf no stomach now to tight dis British soldier poy; der Kaiser's army he cuts oop, shoost like von saveloy. Der poof old Kaiser, he looks blue; he says, “Mein poys, I fear der Sherman sausage aint no match for British beef or beer. I’m werry much afraid dot ven all over is der scrap, mein lofely Sherman Empire vill bo viped clean off der map. Der British bayonets charge vonce more, and ve run quick und faster; I’ll soon be home, so, modder dear, get out der shticking plaster.—Vrom .your lulling son, WILHELM DONNERWETTEK.
