FOXTON HARBOUR BOARD.

A meeting of the Foxton Harbour Board was held at Palmerston N. yesterday afternoon. Present: Messrs P. Hennessy (chairman), J. A. Nash, T. J. Clapbam, J. Linklatef, W. E. Barber, and W. Bock. An apology for absence ed from Mr D. W. Matheson. TREASURER’S REPORT.

The treasurer reported that the receipts since last meeting totalled £137 19s Gd, being made up of pilotage £l4 12s Od, lighting £5, rents £9B 5s Od, road contributions £l6. 17s 6d, telephone £3. The expenditure amounted to £340 18s lid, including .£l3l 5s Od interest on loan. The statement was adopted, and the local committee was authorised to pay over the £5,000 for the purchase of the wharf.

SUB-COMMITTEE’S REPORT. The Sub-committee submitted the following report: — . Pui’chase of wharf, and sites for distributing stores: Several meetings, and conferences with the Railway Department, have been held in this connection. Progress has been made in so far as concerns the temporary handling of goods, and in sites for warehouses. The site selected for the Board’s goodshed does not at present meet with the approval of the Department, but another one is under consideration, and it is hoped will be arranged. With reference to the foreshore below Messrs Levin and Co.’s shed, the Railways only want sufficient land for sidings to give access to distributing store, etc., and we hope to submit a definite proposal shortly.

Round Bush: The Board is asked to appoint three members to meet members of the Foxton Borough Council and Manawatu County Council in conference.

Swimming' Baths: The Borough Council will accept the Board’s offer of a site, but make (he reservation that same may bo used for any purpose.

The report was adopted BOUND BUSH.

Messrs Hennessy, Bock, ami Linklater were appointed to represent [he Board at (he conference with delegates from the Fox ton Borough Council to discuss the question of the acquisition of the Round Bush as a scenic reserve, and the conference was fixed for .August Oth. SWIMMING BATHS SITE.

A letter was read from the’Coxton Borough-Council, asking for 150 ft. of river foreshore opposite Pound Cottage, to be used as a site for swimming baths or any other purpose the Council might decide. —lt was decided to notify the Council that the Board is willing to lease them 100 ft. of the foreshore opposite the Pound Cottage for swimming bath purposes only for a long term at a rental of ten shillings per annum. GENERAL.

An application for permission to sub-divide a section at the Beach was refused.

The dealing with tenders for leases for Beach sections was left to the local committee. The local committee was authorised to proceed with plans, etc., for the erection of the Board’s goods shed.
