INFORMATION received hr the Hon. (!. \V. Russell shows thut during Ihe week ended Kith Juno, 12 (•uses of lethargic eneaphalilis wore reported in New Zealand. Four were in the North Island, and eight in the South Island. Cases of other diseases reported during- the week Avere: Diphtheria. 98 (80 in North Island, 08 in South Island), influenza 82. Improvements are in hand on Quail Island, Lyttelton Harbour, to deal with eases of infectious diseases on coastal vessels. Lyttelton is not usually made (he first port of call for ocean-going vessels, and if any arrive (hero Avith influenza on hoard, the vessel Avill he sent to Wellington for quarantine. The Health Department feels it is not necessary to have more than two large fully equipped quarantine stations in the Dominion. The ugav buildings, at Auckland Avill enable the station there to accommodate TOO persons. The Wellington station, Avlien all arrangements are completed, Avill accommodate the same number.
