FIGHT FOR A BRIDE.
SCENE OX CHURCH STEPS. There has been a remarkable scene at Ilkeston, a bride and her bridegroom being forcibly parted in a free fight on the church steps immediately after the Avedding. St. John’s Church Avas the scene, the bride having come from Dcavsbury Avitli her soldier brother. As the party left the church after the ceremony the soldier attempted to take his sister away in one direction while (he ncAvly-made husband sought to go home Avith his Avife in the oilier direction. , A hotly contested free fight resulted. The bridegroom Avas assisted by bis relatives, and the soldier and his supporters Avere defeated. When life police arrived the breathless husband demanded possession both of his bride and his ‘'marriage lines.” But the soldier Avas adamant, and succeeded in returning Avith his sister to Dewsbury, theh usband having to go home alone.
