NEW ZEALAND’S TROOPS.
ALL HOME BEFORE OCTOBER
8,110 NOW ON THE WATER
It is officially announced that, assuming present arrangements are not interfered with, practically the whole of the New Zealand troops in the United Kingdom will have been evacuated by the end of August. The ,■journey out via the Panama Canal occupying from 30 to 40 days, this means that almost the whole of the New Zealand troops at present in England will be back in New Zealand before the beginning of October.
The total of New Zealand troops from the United Kingdom now on the water is 8,110, They are accompanied by 575 women and 148 children. The full details arc as follow: —
Waimana (Returning Draft No. 257) Left U.K. 10th May; due at Auckland 23rd June. Draft comprises 1,075 troops, 1 woman. Prinzessin (Returning Draft No. 258) : Left U.K. 10th May; due Wellington 25th June. Draft comprises 507 troops, 81 women, 19 children.
. Maunganui (Returning Draft No. 250): Left U.K. 17th May; due Port Chalmers 22nd June. Draft comprises 1,128 troops. Ruahine (Returning Draft No. 260); Left U.K, 19th May; due Wellington 6th July. Draft comprises 895 troops, 139 women, 35 children.
Tahiti (Returning Draft No, 261) : Left U.K. 27th May; due Auckland 2nd July. Draft-compris-es 1,210 troops. Kigoma (Returning Draft No, 262) ; Left U.K. Ist June; due Wei-, lington 15th July. Draft comprises 758 troops, 154 women, 31 children. Chufra (Returning Draft No. 263) : Left U.K. Bth June; due Wellington 22nd July. Draft comprises 732 troops. Marama (Returning Draft No. 264) Left U.K. 10th June: due Auckland 17th July. Draft comprises 003 troops. Ruapehu (Returning Draft No. 205): Left U.K. 7th June; due Wellington 21st July. Draft comprises 452 troops, 200 women, 63 children. The whole of these 8,110 troops are thus due to arrive in New Zealand in little more than one month from now. TROOPS IN EGYPT.
The transports Ulimaroa, Pilsna, and Insbruck are due to leave Egypt with New Zealand troops on 24th June, 30th June, and 201 h July respectively. It is expected that these three vessels will he able to bring back practically the whole of (he New Zealand troops from the land of the Pharaohs. The journey from Egypt occupying from live to six weeks, practically the whole of the New Zealand troops (hero should thus he back in the Dominion by the end of August.
