FOXTON BOROUGH COUNCIL.
SPECIAL MEETING. A. special meeting of the Foxlon Borough Council was held on Thursday evening to discuss matters in connection with the Town Hall, and general. There were present: The Mayor (Mr J. Chrystall), and Crs. Waiker, Rand, Bryant, Me Murray, Pearson, Parkin, Coley and Thompson. TOWN HALL.
The Mayor said that at last meeting, when the question of the lease of the Town Hall was under discussion, several Councillors suggested that it would be wise at the present stage to re-lease the building for a further term. Since then a letter had been received from Mr W. T. Eyre, New Plymouth, asking for particulars and terms of lease, and lie (the Mayor) thought the fairest way would lie to call tenders for a further lease of two years from the expiry of the existing lease. He moved Unit tenders be called for lease of (ho Town Hall for a term of two years commencing on the termination of the present lease, March Ist, 1920. This was seconded bv Cr. Coley.
Crs. McMurray, Walker, Bryant and Thompson spoke in support of the motion, which, on being put, was c a rri e d unanimously. IVORKERS’ OWELLINGS.
The Mayor said that, as the Govern incut had decided to proceed with the erection of 200 workers’ dwcdlings, ho thought it would be a good thing to make application to have Foxton included in (he centres in which the dwellings are to bo erected, and he moved tha? applied lion be made to the Superintendent of Workers' Dwellings, asking that Foxton should be included in the scheme at present under consideration. This was seconded by Cr. Colev, and carried. GENERAL. The Mayor staled that' the Registrar of Electors for Mannwafit (Air A. Hawke) had approached him with a view to getting (lie Mayor's room for six months for the Electoral Department for the use of officers of the Department in compiling the new mil. It was for (he Council to decide what rent should lie charged. Cr. Bryant moved, and Cr. Parkin seconded, that the rent be Km shillings per week if gas is not used, or thirteen shillings with gas. As an amendment, Cr. Rand moved, and Cr. .Coley seconded, that the rent he seven shillings and twelve shillings and sixpence. The motion was carried.
Tilt' Town Clerk (Mr Waters) was granted a week's leave in lieu of holidays.
