MAGISTRATE’S COURT.
The monthly sitting of: the Magistrate's Court was held before Mr E. Pago, S.M., yesterday, when judgment for plaintiffs was entered up in the following undefended civil eases: —AY. S. Free v. 11. Meßrearfy, claim £5 8s Od, costs £1 5s Gd; R. N. Speirs v, J. A. Hofmann, £5 and AY. Eye v. Pino Mold, £4 10s Od, cos;ts 15s. In the judgment summons, Dr. Mandl v. John Nelson, a claim for £l7 O.s Gd, judgment debtor was examined at length, after hearing which the Magistrate declined to make an order. Renata Hemara, who did not appear, and made no excuse for absence, was ordered to pay AA T . Nye £l3 9s 3d within one month, in default 13 days’ imprisonment. In the ease, P. Lumsden v. Geo. Cunningham, judgment debtor did not appear, and was ordered to pay £8 11s Gd by instalments of £3 per month, in default eight days’ imprisonment. G. E. Davis made application for possession of dwelling occupied by Mrs "Grace Moore. After hearing plaintiff’s evidence, an order was made for possession within one week. Plaintiff was allowed one guinea costs. AYehb and Van Staveren proceeded against Thomas Powell to recover the costs of preparing lease of Town Hall. Defendant claimed that the charge made was excessive. After hearing the evidence, the Magistrate said that the charges made were most reasonable, and were less than the scale laid down by the Law Society. Judgment was entered up for £7 11s Od, with costs £1 18s Od.
