A STRANGE AFFAIR.
Christchurch, Yesterday. A strange affair occurred on Saturday night. A two-seater motor car, being driven along a street adjacent to a business section of tho city, knocked doAvn a man named William Pickering, aged 75. The driver of the car disappeared before he could be identified, and the car Avas later taken by an unknoAvn person to a near-by garage. The car hud been left by the oaviioi* outside the King Edward Barracks, and is supposed to have been stolen by the person Avho Avas driving Avhen 1 lie accident occurred. Pickering Avas taken to the hospital. The matter is in the hands of the police.
