DAIRY PRODUCE.

THE AMERICAN DELEGATES. The dairy factories in the Taranaki province having decided to send Messrs Forsyth and Murdoch to America to inquire into matters connected with the dairy industry, and more especially into the question of the utilisation of by-products, a suggestion was made that the companies in the Wellington province should he allowed to join in. With this object in view a meeting representing a number of factories in this province was held in Pal--merston North on Saturday, when* the following delegates were present: Messrs J. D. Brown (Ohau), S. Broadbelt (Levin), J. Gildea (Maharahara), J. A. Stratford, junr. (Talaramoa), and S. PaviourSmith (Dannevirke) representing the Norsewood Dairy Company.

Mr J. D. Brown was voted to the chair, and explained that in order for any company to .he able to participate in the advantages which would accrue through the two delegates going to America it would be necessary that they should participate in the necessary cost of the delegates’ visit. The executive, which had its headquarters in Taranaki, consisted of seven members, and taking two tons of cheese as equal to one ton of butter, the basis of Taranaki's contribution would be 20,000 tons-of cheese. Wellington’s quota was equal to 5,800 tons, and this would entitle the dairy companies in this province to two members on the executive. It had been decided that the maximum contribution was to ho 2s per ton on cheese and 4s per ton on butter. Mr G. 11. Bnckeridge, Hawera, had been appointed treasurer, and arrangements were being made for the collection of the levy. If there should he any surplus remaining after paying the expenses of the delegates, it would bo divided amongst the companies contributing. The following factories in the Wellington district had agreed to contribute towards the cost of the delegates: Hopelands, Pahiatua, Marinin, Manga had, Kaituna, Woodviljc, Rongamai, Lake---view, Featlierston, United, Riverbank, Kaiparoro, Maharaha, Taraumea, Nirscwood, Knkotau, Nirctaramoa, Newman, Knkn, North Till ha, Grey town, Dalelield, Parkvale, Newbury, Levin, and Shannon. It was decided to join in with the Taranaki companies, and Mr Pavi-our-Sniith being the only person nominated was eie.-tel ns one member of (he executive to represent the Wellington province.
