THE KAISER’S DOUBLE. Count Bentinck, host to IVilliam Hohenzollern, has a cook who is a good likeness of the ex-Kaiser. Ho is frequently pointed out to strangers as the former German ruler, and when observed carries out the part with rare dignity and majesty of pose.

CIGARETTE CURE FOR
FAINTING
The curious scene was witnessed at Ilighgate Police Court of a policeman pulling at a cigarette ami (hen puffing smoke into the face of a girl who had fainted while giving evidence. A woman present explained that this novel treatment was always efficacious in the case of (he girl, who was subject to fainting seizures.
A VERSAILLES SEASON,
A plan for a big summer season at Versailles to commemorate every year the signing of peace is under consideration, and there is every prospect of it being adopted. The scheme provides for a series of operatic and classical theatrical representations at the Chateau of Versailles each year between May 15th and July 15th, The programme for the first year also includes
; pageant of victory, in which thousands of persons are to take part. It is proposed to adapt the great hall of the chateau for (ho presentation of operas and comedies. It forms one of the finest and largest theatres in Europe.
AEROPLANE FIGHTS A WHALE. A running encounter hot ween a whale and an aeroplane resulted in the death of (he ■whale several miles oft the shore at San Diego, California. Lieutenant James McCullough, an army flier, sighted the whale and pursued him with hursts of machine-gun fire, killing him after a chase of two miles.
