SCHOOL COMMITTEE ELECTION.
RESULT OF RECOUNT,
A TIE FOR NINTH PLACE,
A recount of the votes recorded at last Tuesday night’s School Committee election took place on Saturday afternoon. Two papers which were counted at the first count were found to be informal, making the total of informal votes 42. As a result of the recount there, is a tie for ninth place, Messrs McMurray and John Ross having each received 95 votes. The corrected returns are as follows; — PERREAU, 153. HORNBLOW, 120. COLEY, 115. CLARIS, 105. PARKIN, 101. ALEXANDER, OS. ROBINSON, 97. KELLGW, 07. McMURRAY, 05. ROSS, 05.
Nine committeemen are required, and as McMurray and Ross have tied for ninth place it has yet to he decided which of these two is to take the seat.
The other candidates polled as follows; —Woods So, Bredin 1 0, Francis 81, Signal 71, Baildon 60, Me Co 11 65, Henderson 50, Aitcheson 51, Sexton 51, Stevenson 42, Martin 41, Read 21.
