CROQUET.

A match for the Stewart Shields was played yesterday afternoon, when the challengers, kies dames Whibley and Woods, defeated the holders, Mesdames Parkcs and Perrean, by nine points. Ibis is the last match for these trophies that will he played this year, as the lawn, will be closed down for 1 up-dressing after to-night. This afternoon a parly of croquet players from Levin visited Poxlon, and a match is being played for the Gold Stars, at present held by Mesdames Evans and Perrean. The challengers are Miss Mhittaker and Mrs Kirk. To-morrow the local players are visiting Levin, where Mesdames Evans and Perreau will play the folders of the Ho.rnblow Badges.
