MOUTOA NOTES.

(Own Correspondent.) The Easter vacation passed very quietly in Moutoa. The weather, with the exception of Easter .Sunday, was unfavourable for holiday making. Marotiri has had a distinguished visitor, Nurse Davies, who returned to New Zealand a short time ago with one of the returned drafts of soldiers and nurses. Nurse Davies has several years of service to her credit, and was a. very capable and efficient nurse. During the stay in Marotiri, Nurse Davies was the guest of her sister, .Mrs ,1, Shaw.

Miss Cauavan, of Christchurch, is spending a vacation in .Moutoa, and is (Tie guest of Mrs \V. .smith, of Linlcy, Moutoa. It is rumoured that the 3rd of Juno will be an .auspicious occasion for two engaged couples in Marotiri and Moutoa respectively.

Moutoa will suffer a loss in the departure of Mr and Mrs Firth, sometime in the early part of May. Mr Firth has been for many years manager for Whitaunui, Ltd., and in that capacity was held in great respect and esteem. Mr Firth will devote his time to farming pursuits, having purchased a , farm near To puke, in the Bay of Plenty. The young men of Moutoa held another evening in the school on Wednesday last in aid of St. Dunstan's Hospital. Mr Leslie Pigott was chairman, and Mr Stan. Ncwtli secretary. Visitors from Wanganui and Palmerston North were present, and spoke in appreciative terms of the evening reilceting great credit on the voting promoters.
