Savs last night's Standard: — Mi ss Jessie Jameson, accompanied by her sister, was wheeling a bicycle along the Foxton line, and when nearing her home was overtaken by a motor ear driven in a very erratic manner. Seeing the ziz-zag course that the ear was taking, they got off the road on to the grass, and when quite close to the fence (he eta* fouled (he bicycle and dragged it out of Miss Jameson’s hands. The ear proceeded along (lie road Avith the machine hanging on to it for some five or six chains, when it fell off; When picked up the bicycle was found to be an absolute wreck. The ear proceeded on its way Without stopping. Mr R. H. Fretehling, who was knocked down in Oxford Street, Levin, by a motor ear on Monday evening, succumbed at noon yesterday, at the Otaki Hospital, wilbotii regaining consciousness. Mr Fret - ehling was cycling in (he street, when by some means the motorist knocked him down and dragged him for about a chain along the street. The motorist then got clear, and with incredible callousness cracked a pace and disappeared. Mr Frelebtling was picked up unconscious, and it was seen llml he had sustained fearful injuries to his head, and was motored without delay to the Otaki Hospital. The police have located the motorist concerned, and there is every probability of something further being heard of the matter.

LOCAL CELEBRATION. The third anniversary of Anznc Day.Aytis fittingly celebrated locally yesterday. The business places observed a public holiday, and in the afternoon a combined religious service was held in the Town Hall. At ,
