AUSTRALIAN GOLD.
AS Iho nufcome oi’ Ihe conference held in Melbourne in .January, the Gold Producers’ Association, Limited, has been formed as a limited liability company, with a nominal capital of £1,250, in 25.000 shares of Is each. Lach applicant for in(>inbcrslii|) is required to take up one share in respect of every four ounces of gold produced in the month immediately preceding his application, and those who become members on or before April 80th will be entitled to participate in the prolijs of the first half-yearly accounting period. To-enable Australian gold-producers to realise the best price obtainable for their gold, the Acting Prime Minister of (ho Commonwealth has agreed to permit the export of new gold from Australia for a period of three months. This permission’ is conditional on (inter alia) —(a) The formation of a Gold Producers* Association: (b) the admission of all bona tide producers of gold within the Commonwealth to membership of association if they so desire. Permits to export gold will be issued by the Commonwealth Treasury only on the production of Mint certificates for gold lodged by individual members, and participation in any profits realised will be proportionate to the amount of gold represented by such Mint certificate. The association will in’no way interfere with members’ existing arrangements for realisation of their gold.
