MARCH WORKING
The following are the details of the working of the local gas works for the month of March Amount of gus manufactured -168,000 ft., in holder on March Ist. 16,000 ft, tola) -184,000 ft. Gas used by consumers (lighting) 183,600 ft., cooking and healing 166.300 ft, power 63,000 ft., used in street lamps 17,000 ft, used at works and manager's house 18,000 ft, in holder on April Ist, 16,000 ft, total 163,000 ft Unaccounted for, 20,100 ft, representing four per cent of the output. Goal carbonised, -12 tons, Acid per ton, 11,110 ft, AIAXAGER’S REPORT. The manager reported.as under: —The amount of gas manufactured for the month of March shows an increase of 38.000 ft. as against the previous month, but a decrease in •’■as manufactured when compared with the corresponding month of 'ast year, but comparing the same months for gas accounted for the decrease is only .1,300 ft, which is very satisfactory after taking into account -17,000 ft. less accounted for by fires, I connected live new cookers and two new consumers. The main in Union Street is not working satisfactorily at present, on account of water in same, which will lie attended to this month. The carbonising plant is working, satisfactorily. 1 would recommend that a new coal truck ho made (cost about £G 10s (Id), to replace the present one, which is past repair.
