CORRESPONDENCE.
(To the Editor.)
Sir.—l read a letter in Saturday’s “Herald” from Dr. Ergar Whitaker,' in which hr makes a suggestion that a big l)onlire should he made of; all rubbish and disease-germ clothing on Peace Night. Such a blaze would serve a double purpose. But, Sir, in view of the local feeling Gentian pianos have created in our peaceful little centre, J would suggest that all German pianos be collected on the same night and offered up in one grand blaze of patriotism. Patriotism calls for sacrifice, and here is the grand opportunity to have done with goods of German manufacture in our midst. Let Us appease the god of vengeance on Peace Night. Now, -Sir, who will be (ho first to offer the goods upon the liery altar/ The door of opportunity is open, and action speaks louder than words. Will you please publish the names of those willing to adopt my suggestion. Thanking you in anticipation.—Yours, etc., BLAZES.
