THE CROWN JEWELS. The Crown jewels, which were secreted during' the, war in a thickwalled stone vault at Windsor Castle, are once again on view at the Tower of London. Two Guards’ officers and two non-commissioned officers brought them from Windsor Castle, all four in civilian clothes. All carried automatic pistols, and were crack shots. The £0,000,000 worth of jewels were Avrapped up inconspicuously, the Imperial State crown in a cardboard hat-box, the Royal sceptre with its famous Cullinan diamond in some rough, heavy, red cloth, and the crowns, coronets, orbs, and all other regalia in insig-nificant-looking and variegated boxes and parcels. The British Army in France is the largest owner of canal stock in the Avorld.
