BOWLING.

The local bowling green presented a. very animated appearance yesterday, when a large number of visiting bowlers and croquet players were present. Play on both the bowling green and croquet lawn commenced in the morning, and continued all day. The visitors included two rinks of bowlers from the Palmerston North Club, one rink from the Manawatu Club, and one rink from Levin, and a number of lady croquet players from Levin. The green was in good owler, and the players spent a most enjoyable time. The VIS itors were entertained at morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea by the local players and ladies. The four visiting rinks played a game each both in the morning and afternoon against local rinks, and of those .Foxton won five and the visitors won three. Fox ton also won on the aggregate, scoring 149 to their opponents’ 145. At the conclusion of the piny Dr. Mandl, vice-president of the Foxton Club, (hanked the visitors for the visit, and Messrs Spooner (ManawatuL Stevens (Palmerston N.), and Holdaway (Levin) replied on behalf of the visitors.
