A( Tuesday night’s public meeting Mr ITornhlow read the statement of Dir I’. F. Claxton, United States Commissioner of Education, rc education and the war, as compared with (he statements made by the Chairman of (he Wanganui Education Board. Dir Claxton is reported to have said, inter alia :

To do so can, 1 believe, in no way be interpreted as a lack of loyalty lo the. United Slates, nor can failure to do so in any way strengthen our position in the war or enable us lo bring it to a .successful end more quickly."’
