MOUTOA DRAINAGE BOARD.
A meeting of the Mouloa Drainage Board was held .yesterday afternoon. Present :— Messrs Easton (chairman), Barber, Ross and King. Messrs Stiffs and Carter were introduced by Mr Burlier, as a deputation from ratepayers at (he upper end of the district in reference to deepening the 00 chains of main, drain and widening Leon’s drain. Air Stiles pointed out the difficulty of getting the water away quickly. Air Carter said if the Kari Kan was widened a shade and also Loon’s drain tor a short distance, their troubles would lie mot. The Chairman pointed on! (he greatest fault; was that the draincleaning had always been left too late in the'season. This season all drains, including pari of Hie main drain from (he flood gates, had been let, and it was fully expected quite a different effect would be seen as a result. It was agreed that the Chairman arrange a meeting of members of the Board and Messrs Carter and Stiles to inspect Hie drains. The Chairman reported all drains had been lei to Ransticld and Co. at the same rates as last year, and the work was proceeding. The resolution re Hood gate at Duck Creek, passed at a previous meeting, was rescinded, and it was decided to inspect the stop-bank, and authority was given to provide a reinforced concrete gate 4ft. hv •:Ift. It was decided to put heavier hinges, same as the one tested, on the remaining lower gates. It was agreed that future mootings be held at 3.30 o’clock in the afternoon.
