ANOTHER MINE

EXPLODED OPE FAREWELL. Last week another mine was exploded by trawlers (two vessels which work one drag) oft' Cape Farewell. It was reported on Friday that a mine had been seen floating off Paekakuriki. Search was made on Saturday and Sunday, but no mine was found. The trawling operations now arc limited to one unit in the vicinity of Cape Farewell, and one off the North Cape. It was hoped to speed up the sweeping by using the Tutanekai, but the demands of seamen were considered unreasonable, gad this project was abandoned.
