The poll is the result of a petition presented to the County Council by Ci-. Boyce, of Kangiolu. The subject is a controversial one, yet insofar as the present poll is concerned very little has been said. The object is to exempt capital invested on -improvements from taxation, which it is claimed by the petitioners bears inequitably upon the small holder. The following tables disclose the present rate under tho capital system, and what would obtnin under the unimm'oved basis; —
