MAGISTRATE’S COURT.
The monthly sitting of the Magistrate’s Court, held yesterday before Air E. Page, S.AL, was a very short, one, only three civil eases being set down for hearing. The defended case, Airs AL Gore v. William Waugh, a claim for £8 8s Od for rent, which had been adjourned from previous sittings in order to allow of evidence taken at Mangaweka, was proceeded with. In his evidence at Mangaweka, defendant stated that he only had possession of the key of the house for two weeks, and then handed it to plaintiff’s agent. Plaintiff, in evidence, stated that the key had not yet been returned. The Magistrate, after reviewing the evidence, gave judgment for plaintiff' for £3 12s Od, with costs £2 2s (id. Percy Lumsden proceeded against George Cunningham to recover the sum of £0 5s Od for rent due. There was no appearance of. defendant, and judgment was entered up for the amount claimed, with costs Ss. The same plaintiff also sued Andrew Williams for £5 5s Od for rent and asked for an order for possession of the house. Judgment was given for the amount claimed, with costs 11s, and an order made for possession hy February 24th.
