FORGERY.
A YOUNG MAN IN TROUBLE. At the Palmerston Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, a young maT named Alfred Ernest Johnson, a resident of Shannon, appeared to answer several charges of forgery and uttering. The charges against accused were, that on September 21st last ho issued a cheque for f t2, purporting to he signed by E. 1). Crossley, to A. J. Mahon; on 17th December, 1918, he forged (he name of C. Croon to a cheque for £l2 10s, and issued (he same to H. S, ’Wycherley; on 18th December, he forged the name of F. Kcehle to a cheque for £l2 10s, and issued the same to E. D. Holbrook; and on the same dale he forged the name of F. Kcehle to another cheque for £5, and issued (he same to H. Bird. The charges were all taken together. Accused pleaded guilty to all charges, and in answer to a qncslion as to whether he had anything lo say, replied lhai he would pay back all the money with full interest. Accused was committed for sentence lo the next sitting of ihe Supreme Court a I Wellington.
