The Stewart Shields are ei'eaiing great interest on the local lawn. On Thursday afternoon the ladders, i'vlrs Whibley (1. hoop) and Mrs I’erreau (scr.), -were (allied upon to dei’end llieir right to hold the trophies, the challengers being Mrs Ihukes (8 hoops) and Mrs Healey (8 hoops). The holders laid no diiliculty in defeating Ihe challengers, having a margin ol; 17 hoops to spare at the finish. Yesterday afternoon another game was played, the challengers being Mrs Barr (5 hoops) and airs Woods (scr.). This game was a most interesting one, and a very exciting finish resulted, the challengers winning on the peg. On Wednesday afternoon a pair from Levin will visit Foxton and play for the Hornhlow Badges. Mrs Evans and Mrs Pererau will re] (resent. Foxton. In addition to the chnllengers for Ihe Badges, eight other ladies from Levin will also ho present.
