ASSISTANT!'; TO BF HR ANTFD. The Pa 1 mcrsl(m Nurili Hospital Board , lias received the following communication from the Hun. G. AV. Russell, Minister of Public Health : 1 have to inform yon as follows: phans through the epidemic will he undertaken by the Mon. Minister of Kducation, to whom all communicaregarding them, should be addressed. Hospital Boards are requesied to forward through the Minister of Public Health all information in their possession regarding orphans’ eases, in order (o assist the Hducalion Department. (2) The Health Department will deal with all eases of widows and widowers left with children through the epidemic. The assistance of Hospital Boards in this mallei' is evoked in obtaining' lists of eases, ascertaining their merits, and granting temporary assistance on the following lines, namely: Widows in necessitous circumstances are to be granted 10s (id per week for cadi child under the age of UJ for boys and 18 for girls, provided they arc not in employment. For widowers, it is suggested that (hey bo assisted by such sum weekly as will provide female assistance in the home, according to the number of the family, not exceeding 2os weekly; each ease to be considered on its merits; fjunrlerly reports to be, furnished to the Public Health Department. The Public Health Department will refund to Boards all advances made under (his scheme. .
