INFLUENZA.
NEW ZEALAND PR UTICABLV CLEAR. The Inspector-General of Hospitals (Dr. Valentine) on Tuesday staled Hmt New Zealand as it whole was praelically clear of indnenza. The only part in ’which Hie epidemic still lingered was South. Taranaki. A doctor despatched to invc.-ligatu tite position there bad on Monday reported that mailers were progressing finite satisfactorily. A return of very valuable information regarding the. disease, Dr. Valintine slated, was expected from inquiries which the Health Department was making abroad. Up to the present comparatively little information had been received as to (he.disease, and the measures taken to combat it in other countries. One very important question which might be settled upon data yet to be secured was Hie value of vaccine in lighting inlluenza. So far, only conflicting information upon that point had been received.
