BOWLING.

At a meeting of the Committee of the local Club held last night, Mr D. Christie was elected honorary secretary and treasurer, and the following new members were elected: Messrs Rev. Raine, H. Berry, J. MeKnigbt, F. S. Moorhouse, James Ross and A. J. Kellow. At a meeting of the Manawalu Centre held on New Year’s Day, the question of testing bowls was discussed, and it was decided to request the Dominion Executive to send Mr Smart, of 'Taranaki, to Palmerston North, to test ami stamp all howls in the Centre. The various (dubs will be notified of the dates Mr Smart will be in Palmerston North, so that all the bowls can be forwarded there. The Centre also decided to insli(ute a “champion of champions” tournament (his season. Each club in the Centre will he asked to nominate its champion single player, champion pair, and champion rink, and these will play off in Palmerston North on the “sudden death” principle!. The singles will he played on the first Wednesday in March, (lie pairs on the second Wednesday, and the rinks on the third Wednesday. Tomorrow afternoon a rink from (he Levin Club, skipped By Broughton, will visit; Foxton to play for the Awahou Feathers. The defenders are Raine, McMurray, E. Walker, Hawke (s). A rink from the Beach will also play a game against a local rink tomorrow a fternoon.
