THE ARMISTICE.
EXTENSION TO 17th JANUARY. The armistice with Germany is to. be prolonged till 17th January, ami perhaps further, according to the following message (Tom the Secretary of State for the Colonies, received by Sir James Allen: — “With reference to my telegram of lllli November, by a Convention signed at Treves on 13lh December, the armistice with Germany has been prolonged till 17th January, the prolongation to be extended till the conclusion of .peace preliminaries, if the Allied Governments approve. The execution of the uncompleted clauses of the Convention of llt h November is to be proceeded with and concluded during the period of prolongation, in accordance with detailed conditions laid down by the Permanent International Armistice Commission on instructions from the Allied Supreme Command. A further clause has been added to the Convention of 11th November, to the effect that the Allied Supremo Command henceforth reserve (he right, when they consider it advisable as a fresh guarantee, to occupy the neutral zone on the rigid bank of the Rhine, north of the Cologne bridgehead, as far as the Dutch frontier. Six days’ notice of this occupation is to be given by the Allied Supremo Command.”
