Captain William Wheeler, a medical officer, on leave from Eoathersipn Camp, was found dead in bed at Te Aroha.
[The deceased officer, who was about 55 years of age, was before the war in practice at Ohaktme. Ho enlisted Its a private in an early Reinforcement in 1914, and sailed with the draft as such, his object; being to lie with the men. Breaking down in health as the result of; service abroad, he was returned to Now Zealand, and two years ago was given a commission in the New Zealand Medical Corps and posted to Ecatlierston Camp, where he has done duty over since. He was universally liked among the men for his tine character, and especially his warm-heartedness.] ;
